This is how my mom taught me to make goulash.
1 large can tomato juice
approximately 2 cups uncooked elbow macaroni
1 lb hamburger
Brown hamburger, salt and pepper to taste. Add tomato juice and uncooked macaroni. Cook until macaroni is done and liquid is reduced.
However, over the years I have changed it to flow with my changing palate.
VARIATIONS: Iowa Goulash
Brown an onion with the burger. Add 2/3-1 C frozen corn to the tomato juice and macaroni mixture. When macaroni is cooked, turn off heat and add 1/2-1 C of shredded cheese and let melt.
I make both versions, and love both of them! This is made 1-2 times a month and Jeff loves it just as much as I do!
