The Day After
Really, Mother Nature?
This isn't even funny. We all figured that the snow would leave yesterday, but no, it's still here.
If I finish writing an exam and grading papers, I might just have a recipe up tonight.

Just in Case You Were Wondering
This is what we woke up to this morning. The cats were fighting last night and we were tired, so we were in bed by 9:30 (I think we're getting old...lol) and didn't hear the forecast.
The last forecast I heard was a 6 p.m. and they said a little DUSTING of snow.
The cats woke us up at 5:30 a.m. and we came out to check on the snow, because it looked orange outside. EVERYTHING WAS WHITE!! Needless to say, we didn't go back to bed. I watched a couple episodes of Tom and Jerry and Angel before making breakfast (baked French toast--and I didn't get a picture).
6 inches of snow later I'm hoping this isn't an indication of the rest of fall and winter.

Not Perfect...But Not an Epic Fail
Wilton Decorating classes are no easy pass! Moreover, you learn that decorating cakes IS NOT an easy thing to do. I have a new-found respect for cake decorators.
I've been decorating for years, but never doing it right. Now, I'm having to correct those bad habits (such as lifting the tip up before I'm finished piping).
Personally, the hardest thing for me is staying on task, because after about 1 hour your hands and wrists hurt like hell. By 1.5 hours your back spasms at times and your knuckles cramp. I DID NOT KNOW KNUCKLES CRAMP!
Yet, this class is worth the pain for many reasons. One, I'm being social. And, two, I'm learning a skill I've always wanted.
Even though I'm not perfect at piping, I will practice until all stars are alike. I want my zig-zag to have more zig and well, let's just say I'm not the best at frosting a cake. BUT, I AM LEARNING!
I had been putting off this course for a long time, but I'm so happy I finally took the plunge and am completing the course. Will I continue? I think I'll go through with course 2, but I'm still debating courses 3 and 4.

Where I Sat to Eat Supper
This is the new piece of lawn furniture we picked out for our wedding anniversary. I wanted something so that I could sit out on our deck and read in the sun. Since I burn easy we decided we wanted something with an umbrella--yet the patio room sets were WAY out of our price range, so we settled on the covered swing.
My parents stopped by, and it took the 4 of us to put it together, but we had fun. Plus, there's something satisfying about doing it yourself.
After everyone left I had fun enjoying my Corona Light while reading Maria V. Snyder's book, Storm Glass.
